Delivery & Returns
When and where do you deliver?
We deliver within M25 London Tuesday to Saturday inclusive.
We deliver to addresses all over the UK using DPD. See 'Deliveries to Rest of the UK' below for rates, transit times and restrictions.
We now deliver Internationally too using DPD and associated carriers. Please see 'International Deliveries' below for rates, transit times and restrictions.
Deliveries to London and Greater London postcodes:
Deliveries leave The River Cafe at 3pm and will arrive by 7pm at the latest.
The charge is £15 for London postcodes and £20 for those in Greater London.
We deliver non-perishable items across the UK via the overnight courier network Wednesday to Saturday inclusive, at a charge of £15.
If you would like to send something even further afield, please contact us for a shipping quote.
Our 2020 gift boxes can be sent across the UK, and international options are available. Please be aware that these are not shipped directly from The River Cafe, so will arrive separately to any other items ordered at the same time.
Can I collect my order?
Yes, you are very welcome to collect your order from our shop at The River Cafe (Thames Wharf, Rainville Road, London W6 9HA) on your chosen day (Tuesday to Saturday), between 3-6pm.
Can I collect or have my order delivered earlier in the day?
Unfortunately we are not able to have orders ready for delivery or collection any earlier than 3pm. This is to allow time for food to be prepared fresh on the day.
Do you do same day delivery or collection?
Unfortunately we do not have the capacity for same day deliveries or collections.
I won't be home when my order arrives - what shall I do?
We do ask that someone is in to receive and store your order upon arrival due to the fresh nature of many of the food products.
If you realise that no one will be available to receive the order, please give clear and specific instructions in advance - either in the notes section when placing your order, or via one of the channels below - as to what you would like to happen to your order (e.g. concealed on property, left with a neighbour, returned to the restaurant). Instructions to leave items somewhere other than with a person at the delivery address are given at the customer’s own risk.
Please be aware that instructions to deliver the order to a new address or to be returned to the restaurant may incur extra delivery charges.
In the event that we attempt to deliver as arranged but without success, extra charges may be applicable to the return of the order to The River Cafe. If your order contains fresh items and needs to be re-delivered at a later date, we will have to prepare any fresh items from scratch and you will be liable for the cost of both the new and undelivered items.
How do I change my order from delivery to collection, or from collection to delivery?
Please let us know by 12pm on the day you have scheduled to receive your order if you wish to change your delivery/collection method by contacting us via one of the channels below. Any cancelled deliveries will be refunded accordingly.
Deliveries to the rest of the UK:
For deliveries to UK addresses beyond Greater London postcodes, we are currently using the carrier DPD UK. Deliveries are scheduled to arrive by the end of day. Please note that in the current climate, no carriers are able to guarantee their published transit times.
Deliveries to UK addresses beyond greater London are charged at £20. Transit time is 2-3 working days.
Restrictions: We are not able to send any fresh food items outside of Greater London.

For International deliveries, we are currently using the carrier DPD and their associated carriers. Deliveries are scheduled to arrive by the end of day. Please note that in the current climate, no carriers are able to guarantee their published transit times.
Republic of Ireland:
We deliver to the Republic of Ireland for £20. Transit time is 3 days.
Restrictions: We are not able to send any fresh food items outside of Greater London
We deliver to the following countries in Europe for £25. Transit time is 3-5 days:
Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland & Ukraine.
Restrictions: We are not able to send any fresh food items outside of Greater London, nor are we able to send knives, blades or cutting instruments out of the UK
Rest of World:
We deliver to the contiguous United States and Canada for £50. Transit time is 3-5 days. Duty is not paid in advance.
Restrictions: We are not able to send any fresh food items outside of Greater London, nor are we able to send knives, blades, cutting instruments or alcohol to the United States or Canada due to customs restrictions.
How do I return an item?
Unfortunately we are not able to accept returns of fresh food items.
Please return homeware, books, drinks and store cupboard items in their original packaging where possible, within 28 days. These can be dropped off at, or posted to: The River Cafe, Thames Wharf Studios, Rainville Road, London W6 9HA. We are only able to cover the cost of return if the items were faulty.
